There's Gnome Business Like...
Show Business

The Gnome Liberation Front and its practices have made it to the movies.
The most famous of which was French film Amelie, with Audrey Tatou. The work of the GLF features as a sub-plot in the 2001 Cult Classic, as Amelie's variation is to  persuade her father to follow his dream of travelling the world by stealing his Garden Gnome and having a friend send pictures of it from around the world.

Threesome, the 1994 movie starring Lara Flynn Boyle and Stephen Baldwin featured a similar sort of story, where a Gnome is ‘liberated’ and taken on a road trip.

Gnomes really are a Worldwide phenomena, and David the Gnome, or David el Gnomo, as the Spanish programme is actually called, was a successful kids’ TV show.

Anthony Michael Hall, star of such movies as The Breakfast Club and Edward Scissorhands, plus TV shows Warehouse 13 and The Dead Zone, also once starred in a film called erm, A Gnome Named Norm, in 1990.

If you like scary movies it would be a good idea to steer clear of 2004's straight to video, Blood Gnome. It’s appalling. Just our opinion of course.

The most successful of all Gnome-based movie extravaganzas was 2011’s animation comedy Gnomeo and Juliet which took a staggering $100,000,000 at the box office. A sequel; Sherlock Gnomes, is sure to sweep up all the remaining Gnome related puns, if there are any left.

The entertainment doesn’t stop there. The Computer Games world introduced us to the Mysterious Mr Gnome in The Sims 3. The Mysterious Mr Gnome is generally described as ‘a special item that is randomly found in the catacombs’. You know you want to play.

2007 game, Half Life 2, features the necessity for the player to carry a Gnome throughout the game before sending him into outer space. Left 4 Dead 2 featured a similar game.

The ubiquitous popularity of Garden Gnomes saw Travelocity create a viral marketing campaign called, ‘Where’s My Gnome?’, which was also inspired by the work of the Gnome Liberation Front. Roaming Gnome subsequently became Travelocity’s company mascot and regularly features in other campaigns.

While there are many positive and good stories and entertainment activities and resources related to Garden Gnomes and the practice of Gnoming, there are also sinister events taking place...

My football career started around 150 years
ago, and after playing for most clubs in the
League, plus many abroad, I hung up my
boots and opened Charlie Allcock's Football
Emporium in 1988.
Since then, I have developed the largest
selection of official and independent football
gallery and gift products in the UK.
I hope you find something you like.
